Our goal is for Rauma to be vibrant and enchanting, now and in the future. Rauma will achieve this by maintaining its position as an easy and smooth place to visit, live, and do business.

In Rauma, we develop tourism sustainably and highlight our responsibility actions in our communications. In the comprehensive management and development of the destination, we ensure that the impacts of tourism on nature, the economy, and the socio-cultural fabric do not exceed the area’s carrying capacity. We are committed to the principles of sustainable tourism and, together with our partners, take responsibility for the environment and the community.

Benefits of Sustainability for Businesses

Consumers’ environmental awareness has increased dramatically in recent years. Companies’ environmental and social responsibility actions are increasingly influencing travelers’ destination choices and purchasing decisions.

Embarking on the path toward sustainable tourism development provides tourism businesses with a way to improve their competitiveness and stand out from competitors. Responsibility also supports and strengthens a company’s brand.

Integrating sustainability into business development is a way to improve cost efficiency, profitability, and risk management. Evaluating energy efficiency and material flows, along with systematic monitoring, helps identify cost-effective solutions and adapt to changing conditions. Awareness of climate and environmental considerations is often a prerequisite when tour operators select their partners, or a criterion for granting financing for business development.

Sustainable Travel Finland Programme

The free Sustainable Travel Finland (STF) programme provides companies with a toolkit for developing sustainable tourism, making it easier to integrate sustainability practices into everyday business operations. Companies that complete the programme and meet the criteria are awarded the Sustainable Travel Finland label, which communicates their commitment to sustainable practices.

Companies that receive the STF label gain access to a continuous development model, the latest information on sustainable tourism, as well as marketing support and increased visibility through Visit Finland’s channels.

STF Hub is a digital service used to verify the steps of the STF path and apply for the STF label. The service is accessed by creating a Business Finland account for your company. On the first login, identification is completed via the Suomi.fi authentication service. Tourism operators in Rauma are encouraged to join the Visit Rauma destination network.
