From Sri Lanka to Rauma – From Passion to Business
My name is Christabel Fernando, and I am the founder of Brownies.fi by Bel, a home based brownie business in Rauma.
Originally from Sri Lanka, I moved to Finland in 2022 to study International Business at SAMK. Alongside my studies and now my full time work as a chef, baking has always been a big part of my life. It started as something I enjoyed doing for friends and family, and over time I realised it could grow into something more.
After moving to Rauma, I decided to take that step and turn my passion into a business. Brownies.fi by Bel was created to offer handmade, high quality brownies made with care, creativity, and attention to detail. From classic flavours to customised designs for special occasions, I enjoy creating products that bring people together.
Starting a business in a new country has been both exciting and challenging, but Rauma has been very supportive. Local events and markets have given me the chance to connect with people and grow step by step.
I would also like to thank Business Rauma for supporting international entrepreneurs and providing valuable guidance for starting a business in the region.
Today, I continue to develop my business while working full time, and I am grateful to be part of the local community.
